About Me

Cheryl Landrigan (she/her)

Like many yoga therapists and teachers, I came to this work because the practice of yoga benefited me through injury, trauma and a range of life’s twists and turns. As a yoga therapist and teacher my intention is to make yoga techniques accessible, practical and fun so my clients comfortably receive all the benefits of this ancient practice. To be honest, with earlier access to to this knowledge I know I could have avoided some bumps along the way! My goal is to help make your wellness path a little smoother.

Background I moved to Vancouver in 1992 from Edmonton. Before leaning into my yoga therapist journey I was a senior marketing & corporate communications executive and project lead in the public, private and non-profit sectors for over 35 years. My last appointment was in association management for regulated health care professionals. Before retiring in July 2021, I experienced the challenges and benefits of working from home during the pandemic lockdown. Over the course of a demanding career, years of elder care and frankly just life, yoga was the constant that helped me avoid chronic injury from the repetitive strain of stress, trauma, recreational running and sitting at a computer for hours a day!

Yoga Training & Credentials I offer clients over 30 years of personal practice, over a 1000 hours of training, and over 1300 hours (E-RYT200) of teaching experience, I took my initial teacher training with the sole purpose of deepening my practice. In 2016 serendipity led me to teach a class and I loved it. Teaching affirmed I needed more than a 200hr training to really support clients with sport injuries, recovering from surgeries, trauma and chronic health conditions. I completed extra training in Anatomy & Myo-Fascia Release, Yin certification with Bernie Clark, Restorative and Mediation certification with Tianne Allen, but it still was not enough. In 2022 I completed my 500HR yoga teacher training (RYT500) and in 2023, I completed the two-year (800hr) training program at Ajna Yoga Therapy College to become a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). With combination of training and experience, I have earned the credential of Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACEP) which means I can teach yoga teachers.

I’m a proud member of the IAYT and registered member of Yoga Alliance, and believe that Yoga Teachers, and in particular, Yoga Therapists should be regulated professions so that clients can make informed decisions about who they practice with, and have recourse if an issue arises.

Practice Locations In addition to supporting private clients in person and online, I currently I teach at two community centers and a private studio, and was honoured to lead a workshop series for clinical staff at Richmond Hospital. It’s important to me to offer what I’ve learned in affordable and accessible settings. As a dog lover, I was also a proud pet therapy volunteer. You may still see some photos of my best pal and chill yoga dog on my site. This fall she sadly passed over the rainbow bridge, and will always hold a very special place in my heart.

What Clients Are Saying…

As someone with chronic back pain, I re-started yoga classes at the South Arm Community Centre in the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is where I met Cheryl. Her classes became ones I looked forward to on every Thursday. Cheryl has a vast amount of knowledge and I like how in her instruction she would remind us of why we are doing certain poses, what muscle groups we are working on and the importance of holding good posture during the stretch or asanas. There is always something new I took away from each of her classes. One day we will be learning about the importance of stretching fascial lines. On another day we will learn exercises we can do at home that do not require a yoga mat. I’m always left with a feeling after Cheryl’s class that I have done the best I can for my body, mind and spirit for that day.” — A. Mann

"Practising and learning yoga with Cheryl has been a blessing to me. Cheryl makes the class fun, welcoming and for anyone of any level or ability. I've had chronic pain in my upper back and neck for years and I was told to learn to live with it and just manage it. Imagine my delight and surprise when after only a few sessions with Cheryl, I woke up the next morning without pain. None. It was amazing. I know I have a ways to go and practice to make that a regular occurrence, but I have confidence now it is possible. Cheryl just has a wonderful sense of humour and a beautiful kindness that surrounds her and extends out to her students. I highly recommend practising with her if you can! " — Bonnie C.

“I was very impressed and relieved to experience the gentle, caring and focused approach that Cheryl brought to our private yoga sessions. After a detailed in-take form and initial conversation, Cheryl was able to tailor our practice right to the work I needed the most. It was so helpful to have the anatomical information that she paired with the physical practice, and to get the weekly worksheets afterwards. Although I’ve practiced yoga for almost 40 years, my practice had suffered a bit through the pandemic. This work with Cheryl was exactly what I needed to restart a more complete practice.”  — Diane M.
